Award-winning country singer to perform at Festival de Cascarones

Fiesta 2016 is fast approaching in San Antonio. Bring your boots and cowboy hats to the fifth annual Festival de Cascarones April 24 at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

Country music artist Tracy Lawrence headlines this year’s festival. Lawrence, an accomplished country singer, received awards from the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music. He also sold over 13 million albums with popular songs such as  “Find Out who your Friends Are,” ‘Time Marches On,” and “Paint Me a Birmingham.”

A “Golden Cascarone Hunt will celebrate A&M-San Antonio becoming a four-year higher education institution and the first class of freshman and sophomores admitted fall term.

Past Festival de Cascarones have included musical talent The Spazmatics, The Soda Creek Band, and Mario Flores. Student organizations will sell food and drinks to raise funds for their clubs.

Festival de Cascarones starts at 1 p.m., and admission is free.

Daniel is a senior at Texas A&M University-San Antonio majoring in the Communication-Media Studies program with a minor in English. One of Daniel’s passions is classic cars. He grew up helping at his father’s auto upholstery shop, Danny’s Classic Upholstery, that specializes in the interior restoration of classic cars.
