The Campus Activities Board at Texas A&M University-San Antonio will show the movie “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl”  at 3 p.m. May 1 using the Netflix Party extension.

CAB members discussed ways that students can watch a movie together, to feel more connected, said Emilee Jones, students director on the Campus Activities Board.

Netflix Party is a new software where people can watch movies in real time and can chat while the movie is playing. The members take turns picking a movie of their choice to show each week.

“The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl,” a family adventure, stars Taylor Lautner, Taylor Dooley, Cayden Boyd, and George Lopez, and is about a boy whose imaginary friends/superheroes ask him to help them save their planet.

CAB also hosted showings of “Spider-man Into the Spider-verse,” “Nacho Libre,” and “Lawless” this semester.

The idea behind this event was to bring students together.

“So that all of our students in our school can feel camaraderie,” said Valeria Rodriguez, event coordinator on the Campus Activities Board.

Seth Maldonado, event coordinator on the Campus Activities Board said he hopes that this will provide some interaction between students to ease the tensions of social distancing.

This event is open to anyone but A&M-San Antonio students are preferred to participate. Students can go to JagSync and view the steps on how to participate in the Netflix Party.

This will be the last movie for the semester and the CAB members encourage students to tune in and participate for a last virtual event.

To join the watch party, the link will be posted at 2:45 p.m. May 1 on the bio of CAB’s Instagram, their username is @cabtamusa.
