Exclusive Interview: Francisco Cantu, former border patrol agent provides a voice to immigrants

Producers, Jesus Miguel Garcia and Ruben Betancourt sit down with Francisco Cantu at Club Giraud in San Antonio, Texas. We take you on an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the lush members-only Club Giraud.

As a former US Border Patrol Agent, Cantu provides readers a firsthand look at his experiences in finding immigrants in deteriorating conditions.

He also shares his connection and his thirst to understand border issues, and the numerous misconceptions of a border wall. Cantu’s book, The Line Becomes a River: Dispatches From the Border published by Riverhead Books was published earlier this year.

With his book, Francisco Cantu hopes to build a platform giving a voice to all migrant workers.

Ruben Betancourt is a senior Communication major and a Spanish minor at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Ruben is the Editor-in-Chief for The Mesquite and works part-time at the Alamo Colleges District Business Office, as an Accounts Receivable Assistant. He is a Greehey Scholar and a San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists scholarship recipient. He is also a member of the National Leadership and Success Society.
