The Jaguarettes are inviting a San Antonio Spurs dancer to talk with students about diversity and inclusion in the dance industry at 11 a.m. March 30 on Zoom.

“Donut Worry Just Dance-A Conversation about Diversity and Inclusion in Dance” is open to all college students, not just dancers. They will be able to talk to and ask questions of Danielle Bonaparte, Spurs Hype Squad dancer.

The title “Donut Worry” originated because the event, which was originally planned to be in person, was going to serve doughnuts.

The discussion is the first of its kind for the dance team. The coach, Courtney Bobb-Meilinger, said she hopes to hold another discussion like this during National Dance Week and twice a year in general.

Bobb-Meilinger explained the purpose of the discussion.

“Historically speaking, dance has to a certain extent remained stagnant in its forms of representation through diversity and inclusion,” she said. “Thus, the need for conversation about dance and its role in a world where diversity and inclusion should no longer be glossed over but instead embraced, spoke about and lived.”
