Local radio station KJ 97 (97.3 FM) is teaming up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 15 and 5 a.m.to 7 p.m. March 16 for the 3rd annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids radiothon at North Star mall to help raise money.
In 2010, KJ 97 began hosting Country Cares for St. Jude Kids and since then, has raised $714,613.
Listeners who are interested in helping raise money for the children of St. Jude are encouraged to tune in on these dates and call 1-800-345-HOPE (4673) and make a pledge or visit the KJ 97 website.
Concert tickets, autographed guitars and many more prizes will be given away during the radiothon.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through research and treatment, operates to find cures for children with cancer and other diseases, according to the St. Jude website.
The hospital opened in 1962 and was founded by Danny Thomas. It treats children from all over the world at no cost to the family. Each year over 7000 patients visit the hospital. St. Jude’s daily operating cost is $1.7 million. Most of this comes from public contribution according to the website.
