The Genealogy Club helped its members discover who their ancestors might be at its April 10 meeting in the Science and Technology building Room 143 at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
President Zachary Schiferl directed A&M-San Antonio students at the meeting to access the website FamilySearch.org.
Schiferl is a freshman and creator of the Genealogy Club.
The club members entered their correct family information to trace their family history as far back as they could remember.
The club started about two months ago.
The Genealogy Club helps students find out about their family history and ancestors.
The club consists of about eight members, and Schiferl, who dive deep into family bloodlines to find not only their relatives but something they didn’t know within their family’s history. For example, some genealogy researchers might discover someone famous in their family history.
“They can experience knowledge, meet friends and find their ancestors,” Schiferl said.
He said he started the club after a church retreat because church members helped explore his and his family’s religious beliefs. The Genealogy Club is always looking to add new members for anyone who might be interested in learning more about where their roots trace back to.
