Rainbow P.A.W.S. will host their first LGBTQ career panel and mixer 1-2:30 p.m. Mar. 6 in the Auditorium at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

Students can learn “how to be yourself” in a professional environment by connecting with LGBTQ+ leaders, community members and professionals.

Rainbow P.A.W.S promotes the educational goals of Texas A&M-San Antonio by fostering a secure and welcoming atmosphere that commemorates and supports diversity in sexuality and gender.

Victor Gomez, one of the co-chairs for Rainbow P.A.W.S. said panelists at the event such as Judge Rosie “Speedlin” Gonzalez, Jake Reyna-Casanova, Marketing Specialist at Apollo Wellness, Arthur Carter a retired Professor and Assistant Vice President at Penn State, Antonio Gonzalez the Vice President of the San Antonio LGBT Chamber of Commerce Board and Alex Rodriguez, Co-Chair of Community Engagement for the San Antonio LGBT Chamber of Commerce.

The event benefits not only LGBTQ students but all non-LGBTQ students as well. They can learn different career paths and will have the opportunity to ask questions.

“I think developing your cultural sensitivity is important and they can develop that by listening to other people’s perspectives and other people’s experience,” said Gomez.

The first hour will include a panel discussion, and then there will be free food and socializing.

Students don’t have to sign up or register, but they can RSVP through JagSync.
