SGA athletics forum and free pizza

The Student Government Association at Texas A&M University-San Antonio will hold an informational forum on the future of athletics from noon – 1 p.m. on Feb. 28, in the Patriots’ Casa Ceremony Room.

The forum will give students the opportunity to ask questions and learn about future athletic programming at A&M-San Antonio beginning in the fall 2020. Marissa Lyssy, Student Government Association president said it’s important for all students to attend this event.

“Everyone should come out and participate because it not only affects students now, it’ll affect students in the future,” Lyssy said.  “And even alumni, so you’ll come back as an alumni for baseball games, football games, when we’re huge and established.”

The proposed athletics plan would introduce men’s and women’s soccer, women’s softball and men’s golf in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball and e-sports will follow in the 2021-2022 academic year.

Lyssy said there’s a $10 fee per credit hour, which is the lowest in the A&M system. More information will be given during the forum.

SGA will provide free pizza for attendees.
