An estimated 65,000 people attended the 10th Siclovía downtown on Apr. 3. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Inspired by Bogota, Colombia’s “Ciclovía’s,” in which a major street is closed every Sunday to allow cyclist’s freedom of fear from drivers, the YMCA of San Antonio organizes the free event twice a year encouraging citizens to participate in outdoor recreational activities such as biking, skateboarding, and walking.
Several vendors were lined up along the route sharing health information and services. The route this spring connected Roosevelt, Travis and Maverick park. Each park had a Reclovía area that included free live music, places to eat, water stations, rest areas and free group exercise classes such as Zumba, hip hop and folk dance.
