The student chapter of the American Marketing Association plans to help small businesses near campus this semester.

The association meets 4:30-6:30 p.m. every Monday in Room 141 of the Science and Technology building at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

The next meeting is Mar. 2.

Founded in 2007, the American Marketing Association is transitioning after former leaders graduated, reestablishing where they are and who’s next in line to lead the association. They currently have 15.

The club is discussing potential fundraising activities for March. The AMA plans to participate in TAMUSA’s Fiesta events on campus.

At every meeting members share a 15-min story about marketing experiences they have had from past or current jobs or anything relatable like using social media.

The AMA has a clear mission: According to the AMA’s Facebook page, members can gain professional experience to further their resumes and portfolios. Joining the AMA you’ll be offered tons of networking opportunities and the chance to compete in nation-wide competitions against other AMA collegiate chapters.

“Anybody can join…marketing collaborates with more than just advertisers” Vice President Bradlee Labrutta said. The AMA encourages communication majors, writers, and business students to join and attend meetings.

“We collaborate with all different fields because we like to have an idea of every section of business,” Labrutta said.

This semester the AMA is looking forward to growing their chapter and getting TAMUSA’s brand more notable throughout San Antonio through community involvement efforts. The club plans on reaching out to startup businesses who could use assistance in marketing, specifically those on the Southside. The goal is to branch out from campus and get involved more with the city.
