The Texas A&M University-San Antonio Bookstore has been relocated from the Central Academic Building, room 135 to the Senator Frank L. Madla building, room 128.

The move took effect and was completed on Feb. 7 and softly opened for business on Feb. 10.

“We try not to inconvenience our students as much as possible, so we were only closed the one day,” Vilma Godoy said, market leader for Follett Higher Education.

The new location increases access to students, faculty staff and campus visitors, especially during campus events, ensuring a broader selection of products.

“Being in this location, it also benefits because now students and customers are going to have access to us when the building is closed,” Godoy said. “Because at the other location, if the building was closed, we couldn’t open the store.”

The university bookstore offers a variety of items including snacks, drinks, academic material and school-branded merchandise with prices ranging from $14-$30.

“We provide students materials, textbooks and digital content, which is now more affordable for students,” Godoy said. “In the end, that’s what we’re here for, to help our students.”

Sharon Amaro, university bookstore store manager and San Antonio native has worked in several campus bookstores and has been with A&M-San Antonio since June 2023.

“I love working with students, I’ve been in customer service pretty much my whole career so I love working with people and greeting them,” Amaro said. “Some of them that are repeat customers I try to remember their names.”

The new location expanded its food options and kept its popular items available and will be bringing in new selections each semester.

Students, faculty and parents can also shop online and choose between shipping or pick-up in-store. Purchases made at the bookstore benefit the campus by contributing to student scholarships provided by Follett Higher Education.

The bookstore will soon have new designs and will host a grand opening including different vendors, with a date and time to be announced.
