Still looking for a place to take your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day?
The Menger Hotel will host a Valentine’s Day dinner 5:30 -10:00 p.m. Feb. 13 and Feb. 14 in the historic colonial room.
Guests can enjoy a Prix Fixe menu, a multi-course meal with a set price and menu. Each plate costs $55 per person, before gratuity or taxes. Spanish acoustic guitarist, Fernando Santafe will provide entertainment.
Tables are still available for reservation, said hotel restaurant Manager Sara Alarco. “Saturday looks really good for us so far,” Alarco said, adding that spots are filling up.
Two hundred and seventy-two reservations have already been made for the weekend and more are expected, according to the host who answered the phone Tuesday.
Alarco said this is the second time the restaurant hosted the Valentine’s Day dinner. However, this weekend is the first time they are having the dinner on both weekend nights, since Valentine’s day falls on a Sunday with the Presidents’ Day holiday immediately following.
Students and their loved ones can reserve a spot by calling (210) 225-6196 or (210) 223-4361 ext. 6023.
German immigrant William Menger opened the Menger Hotel in 1859. It is one of the oldest and best-known hotels in Texas. Decked with 316 guest rooms and suites, it is also known for the supposed ghosts that haunt the premises. In 1976, the hotel was added to the Nations Register of Historic Places.
