The Office of First-Year Experience will host the Fall 2023 Common Experience Speaker Series: The Importance of Visibility on Nov. 7 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Texas A&M University-San Antonio auditorium.

A panel of three public figures will speak about their professional roles and experiences as a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

The panel is composed of Sarah Dwyer, an English lecturer at A&M-San Antonio, Stephanie Flores, captain with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and Leo Castillo-Anguiano, a community empowerment coordinator at Pride Center San Antonio.

This is the first time the Common Experience Speaker Series will be open to all universities, colleges and community members of San Antonio.

“I want to connect and incorporate this event into different communities within San Antonio,” said Rayne Pollard, peer leader with the Office of First-Year Experience. “We really want to craft a conversation about what LGBTQ+ people go through.”

The panel discussion will end with a Q&A. This will give attendees the opportunity to ask questions and express their opinions.

The event, co-hosted by Rainbow P.A.W.S., can either be seen in person or on Zoom. People who choose to view the event via Zoom can still interact with the panelists, give their opinions and ask questions.
