Anonymous eating disorder screening Feb. 27-28

By Ted KnapinskyThe office of student counseling will offer a free eating disorder screening as part of National Eating Disorder Awareness Month 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. Feb. 27 and 28 at Main Campus Building and Brooks City-Base Campus.

Kathleen Frank, counselor and disability support specialist, said the event will provide an anonymous online screening and an informational table with educational literature and resources.

Eating disorders can stem from medical, mental health and physical issues, said Jolene  Desroches, coordinator of counseling and disability services.

The University will partner with CollegeResponse.org to provide a free screening.

The organization provides institutions nationwide “with anonymous self-assessments for a variety of concerns that are often misunderstood or misdiagnosed.”

Tables and opportunities for self-screening will be set up at both campus locations.

“During this time we will have various handouts and informational packets regarding eating disorders,” Frank said.
