Student Activities will offer free coffee throughout the month of February as part of the university’s celebration of Black History Month.
The rich variety of java highlights a different brew daily, appealing to the taste buds of aficionados and novices alike. Coffee samples range from light roast with hints of fruit to dark roasts with an extra kick.
Student Activities members purchased beans from Whole Foods Market, H-E-B Texas Grocery and Amazon.com to bring students flavors from exotic places like the Caribbean to faraway continents such as Africa.
Christian Harmon, a junior business major and a member of Student Activities, talked about how everything is brewing up.
“We wanted to do something simple for Black History Month as well as something people will be enlightened by,” he said. So far, he said the event has been a great success.
“I have to check the coffee like every 30 minutes because people keep coming back for it,” Harmon added.
Harmon described how the uniqueness of free coffee is attracting people to try the many varieties they offer. It also gave him a chance to sample each of the picks.
“I absolutely love coffee. I was ecstatic to work on this project,” he said.
