More than 100,000 people are expected to attend this year’s Alamo City Comic Con (ACCC). The Alamo City Comic Con will hold the three-day event Oct. 28-30 at the newly renovated Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
The convention was created by Alfredo De La Fuente in 2013 attracting more than 35,000 people during its inaugural year. The event celebrates artists of comics, movies, TV shows, gaming and cosplay. Celebrities from popular TV shows and movies show up to participate in photo ops where fans can take pictures with their favorite actor and actress.
The convention brings in cosplayers, those who dress up as their favorite superhero, video game character or TV/Movie character, and show off their outfits and take photos with fans who love the character they are portraying. It also hosts hosts celebrities, comic book artists, cosplayers, and actors.
This years guest celebrities include: David Tennant and Billie Piper of Doctor Who; Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin of Stranger Things; Jon Berthal of the Walking Dead and Daredevil.
Fans will have the opportunity to take a picture with their favorite actors and join in on discussion panels.
ACCC added new interactive experiences for fans, adding “New Worlds Beyond Gallery,” an exhibit where fans can meet the illustrator behind their favorite graphics and Young Adventure’s Writer’s Workshop, a workshop that lets the fans interact with authors. The Cosplay Avenue will allow the interacting of professional cosplayers with their fans, including the judging of a cosplay contest.
