Texas A&M-San Antonio launched a freshman class fall 2016, and with it, the opportunity to strive for academic excellence.
The beginning of lower-division classes allows A&M-San Antonio to offer a Dean’s List, one of the highest awards students can receive each semester for outstanding academic grades.
The Dean’s List honors students for hard work and dedication each semester. “It will be positive for the students to be recognized at the university level,” said Ramona Pittman, associate professor of Literacy and a former member of the Faculty Senate.
Discussions about Dean’s List qualifications have been underway since Sept. 6. The honor will only be available for full-time students with a GPA between 3.50-3.69.
The requirements to qualify for the Dean’s List have been approved for Fall 2016 semester and will be released soon by Provost Michael J. O’brien. No further details were released as of Sept. 20.
Students acknowledged on the Dean’s List are rewarded differently by each academic institution. Nonetheless, the distinction is recognized throughout the country and it’s not just for freshman students.
Making the Dean’s List is similar to receiving a gold star, but this star leaves an impression that follows students forever.
