College-bound students will have the opportunity to learn about higher education careers at Destination College, a week-long celebration recognizing San Antonio as a college town.

The initiative is part of SA2020’s college-week push towards a 50 percent college completion rate by the year 2020.

SA2020 is a state recognized independent nonprofit corporation, focused on a collective vision and goals for the city of San Antonio.

Destination College kicks-off with a press conference 9 a.m. April 28 at City Hall and will continue with student-centered events throughout the week.

The celebration invites parents and students to take part in events around the city that encourage the pursuit of career dreams through college education.

Parents are also invited to learn about college and career options for their children.

Events include a Career Night Block Party at the Witte Museum and the Mayor’s Signing Ceremony at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

The week ends with Destination College Summit, an event informing freshmen, sophomores, and juniors about different college career paths through various workshops.
