The third annual Fire and Armor Bowl will pit the 0-4 Southwest Dragons against the 2-2 Southwest Legacy Titans at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Alamodome.
Southwest Dragons head coach Alex Franco said playing in the dome is a great opportunity for San Antonio to watch Thursday-night high school football in a local landmark.
“This is a great showcase for the city to see a good football game,” Franco said. “Our kids and coaches are excited to play in a venue with a lot of history. We are really thrilled.”
The two Southside high schools will open up district 5A-1 Region IV 14 District in the dome.
In this new rivalry, each team has a win, with the Dragons winning their first game against the Titans. 42-0 on Sept. 28, 2018, and the Titans beating the Dragons 27-21 on Sept. 27, 2019.
The first-year head coach said the “Fire and Armor Bowl” has attracted large crowds each year.
Though the Dragons are winless, the Titans have won two games this season including an 11-8 victory over Del Rio.
The Southwest Legacy coaches did not respond to an interview request from the Mesquite.
