San Antonio Food Bank single’s night

By Manuel Figueroa

Are you single and ready to mingle? Do you enjoy giving back to your community? Now is your opportunity to attend an event that combines the two, just for you.

Singles are meeting Feb. 11, at the San Antonio Food Bank, 5200 W Old US HWY 90, from 5:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m., to package food for the needy possibly  finding the perfect match —  maybe even love.

The event is free. Donations are always welcome at the SA Food Bank.

Participants are asked to dress comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes for warehouse work.

A mixer will help participants to interact and meet new people,” Dawn Thurmond, director of communications for SA Food Bank, said.

BJ’s Brewhouse is bringing the appetizers and a DJ will be on site.

Participants will help package food boxes that will go out into the community to help feed those in need.

“There’s a waiting list for women, but slots could open and limited space is still available for men,” Thurmond said.

“We know many dates have resulted from Single’s Night, but we haven’t heard of any marriages or love. Never say never.”

Register by calling (210) 432-8388 or online at volunteer@safoodbank.org.

Space is limited.
