A 324-unit apartment complex near Texas A&M University-San Antonio was completed Jan. 29.
Los Arcos at VIDA began construction in 2021. The complex offers a variety of apartments ranging from $1,072 to $1,647.
Apartments, townhomes and duplexes are in Southstar’s plans for the VIDA community.
“We believe it’s very important for VIDA to provide a wide array of housing options to accommodate a broad and growing population and need in the area,” said Gretchen Howell, chief operating officer of Southstar, VIDA’s management company.
VIDA aims to not only build apartments and houses but also add shops and restaurants to the area in 2025.
The area around Texas A&M University-San Antonio needs entertainment, Howell said.
Public safety is also important to VIDA.
Residents can get to know officers with the help of SAPD’s San Antonio Fear Free Environment, or SAFFE, program.
The current SAFFE officer of VIDA is Joe Peña.
Residents can search for substations and other SAFFE Officers at https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/SAPD/About/Substations/SAFFE
VIDA will also have healthcare available to them with the first University Health building, a three-story building scheduled to be complete at the end of 2025.
The clinic will be the first building on University Health’s 68-acre Palo Alto Campus. The clinic will offer primary care, specialty care and mental health services.
University Health in VIDA will serve as the new headquarters of the Institute for Public Health, the critical hub for University Health.
“Creating places that add value to a community turns the community into a place to raise a family,” Howell said.
The Madla Greenway was completed in 2022, and in 2025 VIDA plans to begin the second phase of the greenway east of University Way.
