Students at Texas A&M University-San Antonio are welcome to celebrate Women’s History Month at the free Spa Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 22 inside the lobby of the Central Academic Building.
Participants are encouraged to meet new people and de-stress post midterms by having access to activities and treats:
- Free massages
- DIY scent bags
- Spa kits
- Free snacks
- Music
Activities will be inclusive for both male and female students, featuring a barber, licensed cosmetologist and giveaways, said Jarrick Brown, assistant director for Student Life.
Brown said the event is hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB) for students who might not have had the opportunity to receive spa services before.
“Mental health is something that the university has taken seriously for our students and [we] make sure that [students] have a time to de-stress,” Brown said.
The Spa Day is first-come-first-serve and requires students to RSVP through JagSync prior to attending.
All participants must bring their student ID to the event as they will be scanned upon entry.
Last year, the board had 50 people sign up for massages and it provided 100 free stress relief bags to students who attended.
About 150 people in total joined the Spa Day, said Kelsee Crowell, administrative associate for Student Life.
“It’s easy when it’s in the lobby because passing by, you see it [and] you stop by,” Crowell said.
The event will include free finger foods and giveaways as students may get a chance to take home their own spa kit.
The first Spa Day was in March 2020.
The Campus Activities Board uses $1,250 from its budget to allow students a few hours of peace and relaxation in a stress-free environment on campus.
