Networking mixer sponsored by local organizations allows students interested in a career in public relations or journalism to meet professionals from those fields.
Two organizations that represent differing media are joining forces next Tuesday, for a common purpose that will benefit everyone involved.
The San Antonio Chapter of Public Relations Society of America and San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists are cohosting a networking mixer called “Mix with the Pros”, 6 – 8 p.m. Sept 18 at Stone Werks Big Rock Grille in Lincoln Heights, 999 E Basse Rd.
According to the PRSA-SA homepage, those planning on attending are encouraged to RSVP online at prsantonio.com. Top journalists and public relations professionals will be in attendance for networking between students, and the professions they aspire to be in.
Admission is free and attendance is open for all interested in pursuing a career in communications.
“We’re bringing journalist and public relations people together to network and to see people meet face-to-face,” said PRSA-SA President Joel Williams. “Underscoring the value of networking, it helps reporters and PR practitioners develop relationships as opposed to talking via phone or email.”
This event marks the second collaboration between PRSA-SA and SAAHJ in the last year. SAAHJ says they will be sharing the cost of the networking mixer with PRSA-SA.
“It’s kind of a rare event for these two [industries] to get together formally,” said SAAHJ President and Texas Public Radio reporter Joey Palacios. “These networking mixers are really good for fostering professional relationships.”
Complimentary snacks will be included, also a cash bar for the convenience of those in attendance who are 21 or older.
