VIA Metropolitan Transit has confirmed that bus service will return to campus in January.
“Route 44 Pleasanton will be extended to the TAMUSA campus starting on January 12, 2026,” Celine Dobbs, manager of strategic planning and communication for VIA, wrote in an email to The Mesquite Nov. 6.
Dobbs said the extension is part of service changes that VIA’s board approved Oct. 28.

The route is being expanded by approximately 3.8 miles, according to Google Maps.
The campus has not had bus service in three years, since Route 672 was discontinued and replaced by VIALink in October 2022.
VIA is making service changes to 27 routes in January to make bus service “more direct, frequent, simple and convenient,” Sandip Sen, VIA’s vice president of service planning and scheduling, said at the board meeting Oct. 28.
