Students are planning where they will watch the U.S. Presidential election results unfold on Tuesday night, Nov. 8.
Some, including students leaders in Alpha Kappa Delta Society, will stay on campus to organize a community watch party hosted by the student organization and the university’s Sociology Program.
The community of Texas A&M University-San Antonio is invited to follow the election results as the tally unfolds at an Election Watch Party 5-10 p.m. in the Vista Room of the Central Academic Building.
Vicky L. Elias, assistant professor of Sociology, said, “The election campaigns have been very unique.”
“The possibility of electing a woman president for the first time is momentous,” Elias said. “We didn’t want to fail to pay attention to it.”
The campus chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta Society, will offer pizza and drinks to raise funds for chapter activities.
The event is in keeping with the Society’s goal: Alpha Kappa Delta seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.
As with all campus events, attendees are expected to uphold the university’s mission to respect the opinions of others.
