The Department of Recreational Sports is offering two new workout classes to promote fitness, strengthen lower body muscles and complement a popular yoga class at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

Launched this semester, the new classes are Quad Aesthetics and Fitness Trifecta, which is listed as Fitness Tri”F”ECTA in JagSync, said Andrew Bush, the instructor for that class.

Bush said the Trifecta class will focus on three fitness modalities: cardio, calisthenics and weightlifting. Participants will do exercises such as push-ups, squats and lifting dumbbells.

It meets at 11 a.m. Monday, 4 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Thursday in Room 134 of the  Madla Building.

Quad Aesthetics will help participants enhance their lower body muscles, according to JagSync.

It meets at 11 a.m. Tuesday, 2 p.m. Wednesday and 3 p.m. Thursday in Room 134 of the  Madla Building.

Jagfit Yoga has been offered on campus since at least 2018.

Daniella Perez, the yoga instructor, said she believes the class has endured because of its accessibility. It is not physically demanding and easy to try on a whim.

It meets at 4 p.m. Monday and Wednesday in Room 134 of the Madla Building.

The hour-long classes are free to A&M-San Antonio students, faculty and staff due to the Rec Sports fee paid every semester, Perez said.

The coed classes are great for beginners and are ADA-accessible.

Equipment is provided for each class. However, participants are welcome to bring their own yoga mat, weightlifting belt or anything to help them succeed in the class. Participants can wear athletic attire and come with an open mindset.
