Update: April 12, 2022
Added a list of other Selena-themed events near the end of the story.
Students, faculty and staff can participate in a Selena-Themed Scavenger Hunt during Selena Week 4-5 p.m. April 14 at the University Library in Room 202 of the Central Academic Building.
Participants should register on JagSync along with the other upcoming Selena events, said Aida Almanza, Arts and Sciences librarian, Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
The library is participating with the Bilingual Education Student Organization, the Mexican American Student Association, Campus Activities Board and Student Involvement to put together the event to have fun and celebrate the music and legacy of Selena Quintanilla Perez, Almanza said.
“Selena is very important to the South Texas community, and I believe these events will empower and bring pride to our culture,” Almanza said.
Almanza said this is the third year the University’s Library is hosting a week of events dedicated to Selena.
The first three winners can win a Selena T-shirt and a University Library swag bag. The remaining participants who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a swag bag while supplies last.
Students can expect to “have fun while learning more about Selena and our library’s resources,” Almanza said.
There are currently 20 spots available for the event, Almanza said.
