While the rest of San Antonio celebrated the citywide reunion at Fiesta events, students were able to bidi bidi bom bom their way back into the spirit of Fiesta last week at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
After a two-year pause of social activity, The Office of Transfer Student Engagement hosted a Transfer Tuesday Fiesta Social, April 5 in Room 102 of Classroom Hall.
“It’s really exciting. I’m actually really interested in how things are turning out this year,” said kinesiology senior Kristen Alexis, who attended the event.
At least 40 students participated in the event and received a fanny pack and a free Fiesta medal.
The event set the vibe with music such as reggaeton, banda, cumbia, tejano and of course Selena Quintanilla.
“We’re excited and want students to have a good experience while bringing the community back together for fiesta time,” said Tiffany Balderas, transfer student coordinator.
Not only were students able to make confetti eggs and cascarones in preparation for Easter, but they were also able to enjoy the company of the Easter Bunny himself.
The Office of Transfer Student Engagement may not have had chicken on a stick or gorditas, but provided hot Cheetos covered in nacho cheese and a Capri Sun.
“It’s important to bring Fiesta culture back to TAMUSA,” Balderas said. “We want our transfer students to feel at home and welcomed.”
