Beginning this semester, the Texas A&M University-San Antonio Library has extended its campus hours to give students, faculty and staff more access to resources and study spaces in the Business Library Hall.
During the regular fall and spring semester the library is open seven days a week and now has hours extending to midnight – three hours later than its previous closing time.
“The first night people left at 9 o’clock without even being told to, and then since then people have started to stay later and people are still in rooms at 11:30,” said Pru Morris, interim executive director for the library and head of Collections Services. “People come in at 8 or 9 and then they just don’t leave.”
Sarah Timm, head of Public Services, says an increasing number of students living in campus housing are expected to take advantage of these hours the most.
“A lot of graduate students or business students who have those later classes in the evening have said before, ‘Aw man it would be great if you guys were open later,’ and we finally have the staff to do it,” Timm said.
Once fully staffed, the library’s will be composed of 33 individuals including full-time and student workers.

All library services remain available during the extended hours, including in-person staff, book and technology checkouts, study room reservations and computer and printing services.
