The Mays Center will be virtually holding its Informational Tabling and “Money Coaches” events from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays on Webex. Students can find the link and password to join on JagSync.
The next one is April 9.
According to Yazmin Hernandez, a career adviser with the College of Business, the series is a way for the Mays Center to engage with students.
“We started this initiative last fall semester, to do tablings and to kind of engage more with the students on what resources are available for them for career planning,” Hernandez said in a phone interview on April 3.
The events, originally to be held on campus, had to be moved to Webex, because the COVID-19 pandemic shifted most campus activities online.
“We want to keep it consistent, to continue supporting our students on their career planning,” Hernandez says.
Hernandez said the Mays Center wants to continue to support the students who attend these events to get help with a number of important skills. Practicing interviewing, managing their finances and career planning are some examples of what this series has to offer.
“It’s an open conversation,” Hernandez said, “and depending what the students are needing, we’ll be assisting them.”
Financial Literacy Interns, Armando Alanis Flores and Jennifer Velasquez, will be the Money Coaches helping students with financial questions during the series.
Students don’t need to RSVP to join the event. To attend, log in to Jagwire, click on JagSync, click on events and click on “Virtual Mays Center Information Tabling.” From there, click on the Webex link and enter the meeting number and password.
