A resident of Esperanza Hall was arrested on Oct. 27 on a domestic violence charge.

According to a report summary from the University Police Department, two female roommates engaged in a fistfight at Esperanza Hall.

Two other student residents attempted to break up the fighting roommates.

Witnesses at the scene said the offender caused serious bodily harm to the roommate’s face and other body parts resulting in blood, bruises and possible scarring, according to the report summary.

No EMS was needed at the scene.

It is unknown whether any charges were made to the second roommate, however, the victim refused to prosecute and signed a waiver.

The Mesquite obtained an Incident Report Summary on Nov. 22 after filing an open records request, required by the University Police Department, on Nov. 7.

The Mesquite was not able to obtain a full report of the incident because some information on the report is confidential by law, according to John Wickline, compliance officer at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
