ITS updates Jaguar email and Windows network access

New and returning students are advised to review procedural changes released by Information Technology Services (ITS) on how to access Jaguar Email and Windows network accounts. (File Photo)


Students are advised to read through the following changes regarding access to Jaguar email and Windows network accounts. Effective since Monday, the changes will affect the way students access campus computers, library databases and wireless connectivity to personal devices. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR WINDOWS NETWORK & JAGUAR EMAIL ACCOUNTS

Information Technology Services (ITS) has just completed some significant changes in the way you access your Jaguar Email AND your  Windows network account (used for logging in computers on campus, using online resources such as Library Online databases, and access to Wireless connectivity).

1. Your login username for Windows account is your K# (example:  K00011555)

2. The new default password for your Windows account has been set to this new format:  SaMMDDYYYYXXXX (example:  Sa010119993357 – where MMDDYYYY represents your birthdate and XXXX  are the last four digits of your social security number.  Please note the uppercase ‘S’ and the lowercase ‘a’ in the passwords.

3.  The login username for your Jaguar email is your K#@jaguar.tamu.edu (example: K00011555@jaguar.tamu.edu) (This is a change from how you currently log in)

4. The password for your Jaguar email is the same as your Windows account and has been reset to the default – see (3) above

5. The displayed email address stays the same – some combination of your first and last names (ex: joejane.doe@tamusa.tamus.edu).  This is the email address you provide to others.

6. To check your Jaguar email, please navigate to http://www.outlook.com/jaguar.tamu.edu.  (Link also available under the QuickLinks section at TAMU-SA website)

 Additional information:

 1.     How do I find out my Jaguar Email address (display name):

a. Log into Jaguar Connect: http://www.tamusa.tamus.edu/jaguarconnect/index.html

b. Click on the Personal Information tab, and then click on View Email addresses.

2.     How do I check my email:

a. Navigate to http://www.outlook.com/jaguar.tamu.edu

b. Use your k#@jaguar.tamu.edu as your credentials (example: K00011555@jaguar.tamu.edu)

c. Your default password is set to this new format:  SaMMDDYYYYXXXX (example:  Sa010119993357 – where MMDDYYYY represents your birthdate and XXXX  are the last four digits of your social security number. Please note the uppercase ‘S’ and the lowercase ‘a’ in the passwords.

3.     How do I login to computers on campus?

a. Username is your K# (example: example: K00011555)

4.     Can I change only my Jaguar Email password?

a. No, not independently. Your Jaguar email password is synchronized to your Windows network account password.  If/when you change your Windows network account password, the new password will be pushed out to our email system (this might take up 3 hours)

5.     Can I change my default Windows Network password? Yes, there are two ways you can manage it.

a. Use our Password Self Service system: (you can do this via the web)

i. Register your information at this link:  https://helpdesk.tamusa.tamus.edu/PasswordReset/Register.htm  (you will need to supply your email address and answers to security questions).  Please note that this is a                   one-time activity.
ii. Use your K# (ex. K00011555) to login
iii. Use your default password is in this new format – SaMMDDYYYYXXXX (example:  Sa010119993357 – where MMDDYYYY represents your birthdate and XXXX  are the last four digits of your social security number. Please note the uppercase ‘S’ and the lowercase ‘a’ in the passwords
iv. After you have registered with our Password Self Service resource, you can use the following links to manage your passwords

1. Unlock Account & Reset Password : https://helpdesk.tamusa.tamus.edu/PasswordReset/ResetPassword.htm

2. Update Registration:  https://helpdesk.tamusa.tamus.edu/PasswordReset/UpdateRegistration.htm   – if you want to make changes to your registration details – for example, answers to your security questions.

b. Log into a computer on campus (Open Access Labs and the Library) with your K#

i. Use your K# (ex. K00011555) to login
ii. Use your default password is in this new format – SaMMDDYYYYXXXX (example:  Sa010119993357 – where MMDDYYYY represents your birthdate and XXXX  are the last four digits of your social security number. Please note the uppercase ‘S’ and the lowercase ‘a’ in the password
iii. Press <ctrl>,<alt>,<del> key combination
iv. On the resulting screen, choose the Change Password option and change the password.
v.Please note that the synchronization process with your Jaguar Email password might take up to 3 hours.

6.     I am not a current student (graduated, attended,  and not currently enrolled).  How do I access my Jaguar Email after August 19th, 6.00 A.M:

a. Navigate to http://www.outlook.com/jaguar.tamu.edu

b. Use your k#@jaguar.tamu.edu as your credentials (example: K00011555@jaguar.tamu.edu)

c. Use your default password is in this new format – SaMMDDYYYYXXXX (example:  Sa010119993357 – where MMDDYYYY represents your birthdate and XXXX  are the last four digits of your social security number. Please note the uppercase ‘S’ and the lowercase ‘a’ in the password.

d. Please note:  The displayed email address stays the same – some combination of your first and last names (ex: joejane.doe@tamusa.tamus.edu).  This is the email  address you provide to others.
